Exclusive: Barca's final attempt to convince Frenkie De Jong
Barca would love him to form part of their sporting project beside Lionel Messi
The interest of various club in Frenkie De Jong has turned his future into an open media debate. Barcelona have made a final bid to try and get him to come to Camp Nou.
They are conscious that when it comes to convincing the Dutch Ajax midfielder, clubs like PSG and Man City can put more money on the table. So they are turning to their best weapon - sporting pedigree.
Barca have been clear, if money is the only factor then De Jong can choose PSG. What the Catalans are offering is sporting success, the chance to play and learn from Leo Messi, and the excellent history Dutch players have with Barcelona.
Neymar is an example. After his record 222m euro move from Barca to PSG, the Brazilian has tried to come back to the Catalans, trying to escape the golden prison he finds himself in, in Paris.
John de Jong, Frenkie's father, respects the chance to win titles ahead of mere financial aspects. However his agent Ali Dursun, wants the highest contract offer.
Evidently that would help De Jong financially but also Dursun himself. Could that be decisive? It is up to De Jong. Barca, for their part, have made clear their posture.
