The Cameroonian striker spoke about his time at the Camp Nou

Samuel Eto’o is back at at it, attacking Pep Guardiola. Nearly 10 years after he left, the Cameroonian has been speaking to beIN Sports about his time in Catalonia.

Eto’o thought Guardiola had it wrong and it was he who was the star of the team, not Leo Messi, who was still coming through.

Eto’o helped Barca win their first treble with Guardiola in charge.

“Pep had lived all his life in Barcelona but during the years I was there, he didn’t understand the squad. He didn’t live the life of our group,” said Eto’o. “I told Guardiola, ‘you will apologise to me because it’s me who will make Barca win, not Messi’. That was the situation at that time. Messi would later emerge, but you could ask Xavi, Iniesta and the others, that was my era.”

Eto’o said that Pep proved him right in the end. “It was me who made Barca win and Pep would say sorry,” he explained.

Currently at Qatar SC at 38 years old, Eto’o is still active in the world of football. He said Pep decided to sell him.

“My lawyer told me the club had put me for sale on the market. I said, ‘really?’, and he told me yes, at Guardiola’s request.

“Today it’s clear that move and the chance Pep gave me will stay in history because it allowed me to be part of a bigger story in the history of football by going to Inter. He allowed Inter to make the best transfer in the history of football.”
