The Belgian striker is someone Koeman liked working with at Everton but Barça's financial situation made it impossible

Barça and Inter Milan have spoken a lot about transfers this summer. The names who were discussed are Arturo Vidal, Junior Firpo, Lautaro Martinez and now Romelu Lukaku. According to 'Esport 3', Ronald Koeman asked specifically for the Belgian striker when he took over at the Camp Nou. Barça looked at the deal but realised it would be impossible to pull off.

The same outlet claims Koeman 'loves' Lukaku's style of play. Koeman worked with the striker at Everton in the 2016/17 season before Lukaku went on to sign for Manchester United.

Koeman saw the 27-year-old Lukaku as the ideal man to replace Luis Suarez, despite the club preferring to sign Lautaro Martinez. The financial situation at Barça made it impossible to pursue the transfer.
