The Chinese striker drilled home to level a tight derby clash in Cornella

Barcelona threw away two points in the title race as they drew in the Catalan derby clash at Espanyol.

Wu Lei hit an 88th minute equaliser for the bottom of the table hosts in Cornella, after Frenkie de Jong was sent off for two yellow cards.

Espanyol took the lead through David Lopez’s header but Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal turned the game on its head.

Suarez finished nicely from Jordi Alba’s cross just after the break and then the Uruguayan produced a brilliant ball for Vidal to head home.

De Jong was dismissed for needlessly pulling down Jonathan Calleri with 15 minutes remaining and Wu Lei pushed them with an excellent finish from Matias Vargas’s clever ball.

Barcelona’s draw leaves them level with Real Madrid on 40 points at the half-way point of the season, though the Catalans still top the table on goal difference.
