Ernesto Valverde protects Iniesta and forgets about Deulofeu
The former Everton man is being squeezed out lately
The captain is coming back from injury and Valverde will not rush him
Ernesto Valverde will not count on Gerard Deulofeu for the clash with Villarreal. He has been left out of the squad, continuing a bad recent run for him. He did not play a minute against Celta or Sporting in the UCL. Iniesta will also not play on Sunday. He is overcoming an injury and will not travel so he can focus on that.
Valverde has explained that he will not run risks with his captain. Iniesta will likely return for the game against Deportivo La Coruna next week, with a view to starting in the Clasico on December 23.
