Smiling and with Camp Nou behind him, Ernesto Valverde described his first sensations as Barcelona manager. The coach said he is taking on "a challenge that inspires". "I want to thank [the club] for their confidence and now I have to give that back through my work."
He said that he feels "a great responsibility" but also joked about the shirt Bartomeu gave him with his surname on. "I can't put it on, sadly I think that it won't fit," he said.
In a classic grey suit, Valverde underlined his desire to make Barcelona "greater still" and added: "We hope to enjoy everything that comes, that this club becomes even greater. Thanks to everyone."
