The new signing will be available for tonight's clash against Real Sociedad

FC Barcelona announced that Eric García has been registered with LaLiga in the early hours of Sunday morning. The Barcelona centre back did not appear on the LaLiga website on Saturday evening, unlike team mate Memphis Depay, but the ex-Manchester City defender's name had been added to the list by first thing on Sunday morning, meaning he will be available to play in tonight's clash against Real Sociedad.

Yesterday, Gerard Piqué agreed to take a wage cut to allow Barça to register both Memphis Depay and Eric García without breaching LaLiga salary rules. The Dutch international's registration was initially delayed, but was eventually completed on Saturday night. The fact that both new arrivals have now been formally registered with LaLiga means that they are both available for selection for Sunday evening's match at Camp Nou.

Given that Emerson Royal has already been registered, the only summer signing who needs to be registered with LaLiga is Sergio Aguero. The rules state that this procedure can be carried out beyond the end of the transfer window, since he arrived as a free agent. The Argentinian striker is currently injured and will not return to action until late October, meaning this is not a pressing matter for the club. Club officials hope that they will be able to register the player in the next couple of weeks, once they have found suitors for various high earners in the first team squad.
