The defender is not giving up on the league title, especially now Xavi is in charge

Eric Garcia fulfilled a fream when he reached "Barcelona's first team" and now the objective is "to win a lot of trophies."

This season LaLiga looks difficult following Barça's start, but in an exclusive interview with SPORT, the defender doesn't think the 11 point gap to Real Sociedad and the 10 points to Real Madrid and Sevilla is definitive.

"If I remember right, last year Barça were 17 points or something behind and they almost ended up winning LaLiga," is the example the former Manchester City man gave in a sign of his ambition.

The arrival of Xavi Hernandez has given the Barça dressing room a dose of optimism and they will not give up on anything.

Garcia points out that "at Barça you always have to win, the badge we wear means winning and when you play for Barça, you accept that responsibility."

The former La Masia player played many Catalan derbies coming through the ranks at the club before moving to Manchester and is looking forward to Saturday's match vs. Espanyol, Xavi's first game in charge.

"A derby is always a game marked in red, it's a very special game, it doesn't matter how the table looks going into it," he said. "It is true we have the same points at the moment and they're playing very well."
