Eric Abidal: The man who can't put down his phone
During the first training session in Portland, the director of football didn't out his phone down once as he continues to work on transfer deals in and out of the club
Eric Abidal arrived in Portland and has been barely spotted by journalists outside of the club's hotel. However, this Wednesday morning Abidal was there in plain sight during the first team's training session at the Ronaldo Field inside of Nike's HQ.
After greeting Denis Suarez, who spoke to the waiting media, he then posed for a photo alongside the male and female Barcelona teams who have travelled out to the United States. After that Abidal went to the far side of the facilities and was glued to his phone. As one conversation ended, another began.
Abidal's time on the phone didn't go unnoticed and when he walked past the media, he was bombarded with questions, most of them along the line of: "Is any transfer close?" Could the calls be about Rabiot, De Jong or another surprise like Malcom?
Nobody knows but Barça's director of football wa definitely talking about work. Tomorrow morning he'll take part in Malcom's presentation to the media. He'll be there alongside the club's vice president Jordi Mestre in the Dossier Hotel. Malcom is expected to arrive in Portland tonight after an 11-hour flight from Barcelona.
