Messi's new contract will take him to June 2022 with the Catalan giants
According to Cadena SER show El Larguero, FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi will seal their deal for a new contract for the Argnetine star in May. The agreement between club and player is total, as SPORT reported a few weeks ago.
They say that the club and Jorge Messi, the player’s father, have agreed for him to fly in to the Catalan capital in May to finalise the details so that Messi can pen a five year deal, extending his current contract which expires in June 2018 to 2022, five more years at the club from the end of this season.
After Messi Barcelona will turn their attention to Andres Iniesta, as well as goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Another pressing issue is finding the next coach, with Luis Enrique set to leave at the end of June when his contract expires.
