The youngster is still recovering from injuries but desperate to make his mark

For many years, the Santiago Bernabéu has trembled at the sight of Barcelona's No.10. Lionel Messi has delivered some incredible performances there. Now, Ansu Fati has inherited the shirt, a football that exploded on to the scene but is now finding his way back to his best after injuries.

There is no better place for that then a Clasico, where all eyes will be watching. Ansu is aware he needs to refind a spark to return to the level he was at before injuries interrupted his career.

No full game

So far this season there has been uncertainty. It's true Xavi has used him in every game, but it's also true he has only started two of them: the 5-1 win over Viktoria Plzen and the 1-0 victory at Mallorca. He played 67 minutes in the latter, his longest appearance of the season. He has still not played 90.

Ansu scored against Real Sociedad and Cadiz, but still looks frustrated when he doesn't find the net. You can see it in his gestures, his expressions... Celebrating a Clasico goal would dispel the doubts and help his recovery.

Real Madrid

His participation in games at the Bernabeu has been limited to nine minutes played in the 2019/2020 season, when he came on to replace Antoine Griezmann. He has scored two goals in five games against Real Madrid, 225 total minutes, which is not bad at all. The first, at the Camp Nou two seasons ago, the only one for a Barça team that fell 1-3. And the second, in the Spanish Super Cup played in Riyadh to equalize a match that later went to Madrd after extra time.
