The Manchester City goalkeeper hopes the German will stay with the Champions League winners

On the occasion of Brazil's friendly against Guinea this weekend at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona, Ederson appeared before the media and spoke, following a question from SPORT, about the future of his Manchester City team-mate Illkay Gündogan.

The German midfielder is out of contract this month and has been heavily linked for Barça, and the Brazilian goalkeeper spoke about the City squad's wishes for him.

"I hope Ilkay makes the best decision for him and his family. I hope he stays at City, he is our captain and he is a very important player. I didn't speak to him about his future, but I'm confident that his home next year will be City," Ederson stressed.

With several Saudi Arabian clubs interested in signing him and City keen to extend his contract -- which expires on 30 June -- the player's determination will play a key role in the move.
