Doubts in Qatar about signing Lionel Messi for PSG

| sport

They aren't sure he will make sense economically given the state of things

PSG sporting director Leonardo said that the club are interested in Lionel Messi, a desire that could clash with the tough economic reality of things. Per La Gazette dello Sport, the owners of the club, in Qatar, have doubts about a signing that would be hugely expensive.

Qatar Sports Investments are mulling over whether the Argentine’s arrival in Paris would be viable. PSG, like all clubs, are harshly affected by the coronavirus crisis. They have a cash injection from Doha but they have to be careful to not break UEFA FFP rules.

PSG, for now, are keeping an eye on things and if Messi does decide he want to leave, they will look at ways to make the economics work.

He would come for free in the summer but his wage would be a problem especially considering they spend a lot of money on that already.
