Dortmund do not want to sell Meunier to Barça in January

The winter transfer window for Barça is going to be a long one. The president, Joan Laporta, has already indicated that it would be extremely complicated to sign players due to La Liga's wage regulations and it seems that there are no affordable alternatives.

Particularly at right-back, a position that Xavi wants to reinforce.

Borussia Dortmund have already warned that they do not want to negotiate the sale of Meunier now although they will open the door for him in June.

The Belgian is the most preferred alternative by the sporting department, directly endorsed by the sporting director Jordi Cruyff. He has excellent sporting and personal reports on the fullback.

Meunier's contract expires in 2024, so Dortmund will want to make some financial gain from his departure in the summer and the full-back would like to play for Barça.

The Blaugrana have been in contact with Meunier for months. Since the last summer, they are looking to sign two right-backs. The idea was to sell Dest for good and not renew Sergi Rober. Meunier was an attractive option with a price tag of 6 million euros.

The Red Devils player's profile is similar to that of Azpilicueta. A physical full-back, with a lot of international experience and good offensive and defensive positioning.

Xavi Hernandez prefers Foyth, from Villarreal, but he is happy with the Belgian player as well and is a much more affordable alternative.

The ideal plan was to bring him in in January, but Barça have no margin and Dortmund do not want to open the door for him for another six months.
