The tension that exists between Gerard Deulofeu and Sevilla boss Unai Emery is no longer a surprise, but the public display of such tension is new. The pair seem to have fired indirect shots at each other over Twitter.
Left out of the Sevilla squad to take on Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League on Thursday night, the Barcelona forward, on loan in Andalusia, tweeted: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Onwards!"
This message was not particularly antagonistic, but Unai Emery responded rapidly with a tweet of his own. He posted a picture of the seats behind the bench at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, and added the words: "You can have the stuff of champions, but this stuff needs to be shaped with exertion, work and humility. Forza SFC!"
