In his best performance since his return, he was taken off at half-time

Valverde removed him to add an extra body to defence after Pique's red

One of the stars of Barcelona' 3-1 win against Olympiakos was Gerard Deulofeu, who created the first goals in the win but had to be taken off at half time.

Ernesto Valverde removed Deulofeu because Gerard Pique had been sent off and he needed to bring Javier Mascherano on to prevent any holes appearing in the back four.

"Yes, it was a shame not to be able to continue because of the sending off of Geri. It was my first Champions League game here at Camp Nou with Barça since five years ago," Deulofeu said.

In fact, Deulofeu produced a fine first half performance, creating the first goal, which was an own goal by Nikolau.

"I felt good, fresh and quick in one on one situations. I combined well with my teammates and that's the path to follow. I want to take advantage of my minutes as much as I can," he added.

"I have to play as I know, but I am in the best team in the world and I know how difficult it is. There's a lot of quality here and at the end it's the coach who decides, but I know I am going to get minutes if I do what I have to do."

Finally, Deulofeu was asked about Lionel Messi's 100 European goals: "Leo is the best in the world. He combines with everyone, creates chances, is intelligent and scores a lot of goals. He has it all..."
