Dest: Bayern are a great club but I followed my heart
The right back decided he would play for the Catalan giants
New Barca player Sergino Dest said he followed his heart to choose Barca over Bayern Munich.
“I’m proud to be the first-ever American here. It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to get started with my new team mates,” he told reporters.
“Bayern are a great club and there was interest from them, but I followed what my heart told me to and for that I signed for Barca. I think it was the right decision.
“They are a club with so much history and I’ve always wanted to play here.
“Koeman of course was an influence, because he’s Dutch and it will be easier to communicate with him.”
The right-back will take the No 2 shirt at Barca and has put pen to paper on a five year deal with a 400m euro release clause.
