Departures stagnate at Barcelona: Neither Ansu nor Ferrán want to leave

Barça are open to both forwards leaving but both want to fight for their place

Barcelona are entering the final phase of the transfer window with the challenge of bringing in several players, an essential condition for the arrival of the reinforcements demanded by Xavi. The idea, from the beginning of the summer, was to open the door to some attackers, but everything has been delayed. The club has once again been pressing, but both Ansu Fati and Ferrán Torres have no intention of leaving and have reiterated this to Barça. The club, though, are still confident of being able to redirect the situation, especially with Ansu.

There is an offensive overbooking despite the departure of Osumane Dembélé. The emergence of Lamine Yamal and the good performances shown by Abde mean that Barça have accelerated negotiations to find a destination for Ansu or Ferrán. Both were able to see in Getafe that it will be very difficult for them to get into the rotations this season and Barça prefers them to play minutes.

Ferrán has more options to continue because Xavi considers that he can be a good replacement for Lewandowski as an option up front until Vitor Roque arrives in January. The former City man has prepared thoroughly this pre-season and is in good form, but for now it is not enough. His role, if he continues, will be secondary and it seems unlikely that he will return to the wing, where the team already has other resources.

The most worrying issue is that of Ansu. Barça tried to get him to leave for Wolverhampton at the beginning of the summer in a swap deal with Rúben Neves. Even his own agent, Jorge Mendes, who had masterminded the swap, could not convince the academy graduate. Ansu wanted to do pre-season and the reality is that he has been seen to have more spark and pace.

Ansu was the third offensive change in Getafe making it clear that, for now, he is behind the starters and Lamine Yamal and Abde. In fact, the Moroccan has all the options to replace the suspended Raphinha against Cádiz. The club still have confidence in Ansu but they understand that he must play. The idea was to transfer him due to the current economic situation, but the door has been opened to a loan if the player feels more comfortable as he would still be linked to Barça.

The Blaugrana want to use the savings in salaries to bring in an offensive reinforcement different to the profile of Ansu or Ferrán. And they have the technical OK despite the fact that Xavi is still sailing publicly when he talks about Ansu. In any case, the matter will not be forced, although Mendes knows about Barça's intentions and understands the situation. Many things can happen before the market closes, but everything depends on Ansu.
