Barça have named their squad for the Copa game in Bilbao on Thursday

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has cut Ousmane Dembele from the Barcelona squad for Thursday's Copa del Rey last 16 game against Athletic Club in Bilbao.

Xavi made the decision after Dembele decided against renewing his contract with Barça, which is due to expire in the summer.

As a consequence, director of football Mateu Alemany has since explained that Dembele and his agents must find a new club before the end of January.

Memphis Depay will also miss the trip to San Mames on Thursday but through injury, although Xavi says the problem is not serious.

Elsewhere, Martin Braithwaite returns to the squad after four months out as Barça seek a place in the last eight of the competition they won last season under Ronald Koeman.

Squad: Ter Stegen, Neto, Dest, Piqué, Araujo, Busquets, Riqui Puig, Dani Alves, Ansu Fati, Braithwaite, Lenglet, Pedri, Jordi Alba, Ferran Torres, Frenkie de Jong, Mingueza, Nico, Jutglà, Gavi, Balde, Abde and Arnau Tenas.
