Deco explains why Neymar was not able to return to Barça this summer

FC Barcelona announced Wednesday their new sporting director: Deco, who will have full powers in the technical secretariat. One of the players who was also pushed to return to Barça was Neymar. The new executive spoke about the possibility of bringing him back, but that the operation was frustrated by the club's financial situation.

"Everyone knows that at the moment, unfortunately, because of our financial situation, it was impossible to make a signing like that. We needed to reach an agreement with PSG, something that couldn't be done. It was a situation where it would have to be something economically viable for us, but it wasn't possible because of our current situation," Deco told Globo Esporte.

Neymar pressed to return to Barça after six seasons at Paris Saint-Germain. He agreed to arrive on loan for a season and with a significant reduction in his salary, but the deal did not get the green light.

Faced with the impossibility of returning to the Blaugrana, the Brazilian ended up signing for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia for the next two seasons. The striker and PSG agreed that the deal had to be terminated and his new club paid around 80 million euros to the French side.
