Deco backs Xavi words over Barca needing to play good football as well as win
Deco, Barcelona's sports director, spoke to DAZN just before the start of the match against Granada. Aligned with Xavi's words from the press conference the day before, he emphasized that winning alone is not enough for the club; they also need to convince with their style of play.
" We are a club that wants to play well. Winning, of course, but with a high demand for good football," Deco said. He made it clear that "Barça is like this, we're not going to change." In that regard, he referred to the players, saying, "There's pressure, but the goal is to have fun, play, and win."
The sports director also highlighted the presence of one of the players focused on in the match at Nuevo Los Cármenes, Ferran Torres: "He's in great form, started the season well, scoring goals, whether coming off the bench or as a starter, he plays an important role in the team."
Regarding Lamine Yamal not yet scoring with the first team, Deco downplayed it: "He's getting a lot of minutes; I've said many times that he needs to have fun, responsibly, but be happy playing... Scoring will come naturally, we want him to score, help us as a team, and when the day comes, we'll be happy."
