Barca are satisfied with the progression of Jean-Clair Todibo

Matthijs de Ligt turned down Barcelona to move to Juvebtus but it has opened the door to Jean-Clair Todibo. The 19-year-old is impresssive physically, smart, anticipates well and has a lot of room to grow too.

When he arrived he was an unknown quantity, but at 19, 1.89m tall and arriving more or less free - a 1m euro fee to speed up his arrival - he had a few things going for him. So far we've been able to enjoy him in two official games. Against Huesca at El Alcoraz in which he did well, and then at Balaidos against Celta where he suffered a bit more.

Todibo arrived early to start the pre-season, training with Ousmane Dembele, who has become a good friend. Barca believe in him and Valverde is planning to use him as the fourth centre-back. The idea would be that bit by bit he gets more experience and he can learn from Gerard Pique one of the best in the world.
