Daily Star: Barcelona and Arsenal to swap Mesut Ozil and Arda Turan?
Ozil is out of contract next summer and has not signed a renewal
Turan is not in Valverde's plans and could leave Barça in January
Reports in England have speculated about a possible player exchange between Arsenal and FC Barcelona with Mesut Ozil and Arda Turan the players involved.
According to the Daily Star, both clubs have been in contact to sound out the possibility of a swap deal for the German and Turkish playmakers.
Ozil's one of Barça alternatives in the case they can't sign Philippe Coutinho. He is out of contract in June, as is his teammate Alexis Sanchez, and has so far refused to renew.
Meanwhile, Turan is not in Ernesto Valverde's plans and the club are looking to move him on in January to create space on the wage bill and in the dressing room.
It's in that context that the Daily Star have touted the possibility of a player exchange in January, although those types of deals rarely take place.
In addition, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has also said that it's unlikely Ozil or Sanchez will leave next month "unless something incredible happens."
