Reports in England say Barça after experience for Alba backup

Barcelona are sounding out the market for a backup for Jordi Alba. After Lucas Digne moved to Everton, the left-back position has been left short, with Juan Miranda (Barça B) the only possible replacement.

According to the Daily Mirror, Barça want an experience option and have put forward the name Nacho Monreal. The Arsenal player is in his sixth season in the Premier League and remains a starter for the Gunners.

New coach Unai Emery doesn't want to let him leave, though, given his form at the start of the season.

"I can say that I am really happy with him because he's 32, but I think that physically, with his perfomances for us so far, he's at a really good level," Emery said.

Emery also said that the plan is to offer him a new deal: "I think we have to find a new contract for him to make sure he stays at Arsenal."
