The ‘curse’ that’s starting to follow Joao Felix

Joao Felix has not had much luck in front of goal in his games at Montjuïc. Despite a great start to the game against Athletic Club, the Portuguese player was unable to convert his chances and score a goal.

One of those chances caught the eye. It was in the sixth minute of the match when Ferran Torres' run down the right ended in a low cross. Joao Felix, with killer instinct, beat the Athletic defence to the ball and struck a shot that seemed impossible to stop.

However, and unfortunately for the Portuguese forward, his shot ended up hitting the crossbar of Unai Simón's goal, who had only been able to follow the ball with his eyes.

Curious, given that against Sevilla, Joao suffered the same fate with a spectacular shot from inside the area that resounded loudly after hitting the woodwork, something social media was quick to recall, insisting on the Portuguese's bad luck with the posts and bar, which they have even labelled a 'curse'.

The Portuguese, however, got his thorn out of his side with a magical assist that left Barça's home-grown striker Marc Guiu on his own, and he masterfully beat Unai.

Although Joao Félix's frustration is understandable, in 9 games for Xavi Hernández's side between LaLiga and the Champions League, he has a total of 3 goals and 4 assists plus the fantastic run against Betis that led to Lewandowski's goal.

His goalscoring contribution would have been even greater if Soto Grado had not disallowed his goal in the last minute in Granada for offside against Ferran Torres.
