The Portuguese striker will not be able to play against Barcelona next week

Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for the coronavirus. On Thursday the Portuguese forward took a new PCR test to find out if UEFA will let him play next week, but he was positive again. That means he cannot feature for Juventus at home against Barcelona. The report came from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha.

On Thursday, Juventus asked UEFA for permission for Ronaldo to play and the final bit of paperwork to do was the result of the new PCR test. If he had been negative he would have been able to play.

Cristiano must stay in quarantine and wait until he has recovered. That means he could feature in the return against Barcelona at Camp Nou in a few weeks time.

Juve beat Dinamo Kiev 2-0 in their opening clash.
