Lionel Messi came second in the Ballon d'Or, Neymar was third

Messi and Ronaldo have both won the prize five times each

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi came second in the 2017 Ballon d'Or behind Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, with Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar third.

After learning who was on the podium with him, Ronaldo said he hopes to maintain his rivalry with Messi "for more years yet ... in a good sense." The two have won five Ballon d'Ors each since 2008.

"Each one of us gives our best for our respective teams," Ronald added. "I feel in good form, let's see at the end of the year."

On Neymar, he said that the Brazilian "has great talent and the potential to win the Ballon d'Or one day."

Ronaldo also responded to some questions from some of the kids present at the ceremony, one of which was about if he would like to play for PSG one day given he was awarded the trophy in the city of Paris and won the Euros there with Portugal.

"I am happy at Real Madrid, I hope to stay, if it's possible," Ronaldo said.
