The club insist they will make up the difference in February

The financial problems are mounting up for Barcelona. According to Cadena COPE, the club have been unable to pay the player due to a lack of liquidity.

The players were due to be paid in December an amount that they did not receive in full and the club have assured that the rest will be paid in February.

According to the cited media, the players get their salary in two payments: June and December. In December, though, with a wage deferral already agreed at that point, the club did not pay what they had agreed with the players.

The journalist Helena Condis, who gave the information, says Barça insist that the rest will be made up next month.

The news further increases the focus on Barça's grave financial position. They have even had to ask for credit to pay the players and it seems they still didn't have enough.

It's been a week of financial news so far. While Deloitte have placed Barça at the top of the list in terms of revenue, the Catalan club's debt continue to spiral out of control.

The club's annual report revealed they still owe 320 million euros to clubs for players, including 20m to Bordeaux Girondins for Malcom, 64m to Ajax for De Jong, 22m to Gremio for Arthur, 70m to Liverpool for Coutinho, 19m to Braga for Trincao and 9m to Betis for Junior, among others.
