The most convenient Champions League group for Barça

FC Barcelona will be anxious to know their opponents in the draw for the group stage of the Champions League 2022-2023, which takes place on Thursday 25 August. Barça will be in Pot 2, which means they could be up against any of the champions of the big European leagues in Pot 1.

In Pot 1, Eintracht Frankfurt, reigning Europa League champions, Porto or Ajax would be favoured over PSG, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

In Pot 3, the opponents to dread are the two Italians and the two Germans. Inter Milan, Napoli, Dortmund and Leverkusen are the toughest teams, while Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting Lisbon and Salzburg are less challenging.

From Pot 4, Barça should not have too many worries. The toughest club here is Olympique Marseille followed by Rangers and Ferran Jutglà's Brugge.

A group formed by Eintracht, Barça, Shakhtar and Dinamo Zagreb could be the most accessible group for Barça. Combinations with Salzburg or Viktoria Pilsen in the group would also be to Barça's liking.
