The former team-mates did not shake hands ahead of the game at the Allianz Arena
It was a special game for Robert Lewandowski, facing his former side in the Champions League. The No 9 greeted his former team-mates in the tunnel on his return ‘home’.
They all took the greeting in kind except for Thomas Muller, who winked and did not grab Lewandowski’s hand. It seemed like a misunderstanding, although they didn’t try to fix it. A cold meeting between the pair.
Muller had said in the pre-game talk, “we hope to show Lewandowski it was an error to leave”.
In the short term he was proved right, with a 2-0 win for the Bavarians at home.
