Claudio Bravo's message to Ter Stegen after Barcelona exit

The Chilean has revealed why he decided to snub the Catalan club's contract offer

Claudio Bravo has spoken about what it was like spending two years competing with Marc-Andre ter Stegen for a place at Barcelona.

The Manchester City goalkeeper tried to be diplomatic, although he made it clear he wasn't annoyed by some of the German stopper's antics.

"What happened off the pitch didn't annoy me or make me uncomfortable," he explained in an interview with El Larguero on Cadena SER.

"I put pressure on the management in training and in matches [with performances].

"Ter Stegen's presence had nothing to do with me leaving. We didn't have a bad relationship.

"In fact, I think that [the competition] was mutually beneficial."

Bravo also explained why he accpeted City's proposal despite having an offer to renew on the table from Barça.

"I was sincere. I didn't want to be on the bench, to continue earning and do damage to an institution which had always treated me well," he added.

"Barça offered me the chance to renew and I appreciated that, but seeing what their project was, I had to defend my own interests."
