The big opinion: Claudio Bravo has to be Barça's first choice keeper this season

I don't like rotation. But it is essential for the best players to remain fresh at the end of the season. However, this argument doesn't work when it comes to goalkeepers. The one who should play is the one in the best form, and at Barcelona right now, that's Claudio Bravo.

I do not say this because he has beaten the legendary Artola's record from the 77-78 season of going 560 minutes without conceding at the start of the season, but because he has demonstrated his ability to make spectacular interventions when requied, which marks him out as the replacement for the great Victor Valdes.

Luis Enrique has taken a Solomonic decision (in Carlo Ancelotti's style) of playing Claudio Bravo in La Liga and Ter Stegen in the Champions League. It is too big a risk to keep this up in these two major competitions. Like Guardiola, and later Tata Martino did, he can use the second keeper in the Copa del Rey - Jose Manuel Pinto. The No 1 though, has to play in the League and the Champions League. But it seems that Ancelotti using Casillas and Lopez for different competitions, and now Casillas and Keylor Navas, has set a trend.

The Asturian coach should reflect on his strategy. Ter Stegen makes you tremble every time he goes between the posts. The proof is in his horrible error he made in the Parc des Princes against PSG. He's too young to use in this roulette fashion. He should relax and gain confidence by playing in the Copa and await his time, maybe next season.

Replacing Valdes is a huge challenge and Claudio Bravo seems ready for it. Don't get too creative. And even less so with the goalkeepers.
