The English club informs his entourage that they will take over his deferred salary to convince him to move

Chelsea are blazing all the guns for Frenkie de Jong and are confident of convincing him with an offer where he would not have to take a pay cut. As reported by the Daily Mail, the English club has already informed the player's entourage that they are willing to bear his wages, including the part he had deferred with Barça because of the pandemic. Manchester United also promised him as much but it went in vain, so again it all remains in the hands of the player. Chelsea are in a hurry and expect De Jong to make a decision as soon as possible to continue with their schedule.

The English club requested Barça for permission to negotiate directly with De Jong and his entourage and have done so in the last few hours. Chelsea are sure that they will be able to convince the player by making him accept that at Barcelona they have hung him out for sale, while in London he will be one of the main players in Thomas Tuchel's new sporting project.

But despite everything, De Jong is still very reluctant to leave and continues to tell to Barça that his priority is to stay. Jordi Cruyff met with his entourage and has spoken to the player about his situation. Barça do not have any problem with him in a sporting sense, but it does have one economically. It cannot currently afford his salary, meaning he needs to lower his wage to continue or agree to a sale. Barça though would prioritise his departure since it would earn them more than 80 million euros.
