Carles Aleñá signs his contract extension with Barcelona
The midfielder was joined by Bartomeu, Mestre and Grau for the act
If he's promoted to the first team, his terms will extend for two more years
Carles Aleñá will continue to be linked to Barcelona until, at least, June 30, 2020. The player signed his new contract at the club's offices on Wednesday.
The midfielder from Mataro was joined by president Josep Maria Bartomeu, vice president Jordi Mestre and CEO Oscar Grau for the act, with the agreement having been confirmed in June -- the same as Messi, although a similar act has not yet taken place with the Argentine.
Aleñá is with Barcelona for three more years, then, although his new contract will extend a further two years, until 2022, if he is promoted to Ernesto Valverde's first team on a full time basis. In addition, his release clause would then be 75 million euros.
The 19-year-old was one of the keys to Barcelona B's promotion to Segunda A last season with Gerard Lopez on the bench, although he was also involved in the first team with Luis Enrique at times. Speaking to Barça TV, he said "you don't leave Barça if they don't throw you out."
