The midfielder's making big strides this season under Ernesto Valverde

Carles Aleña continues to fight to be an important player for Barcelona's present and their future. The midfielder didn't play in Spain U21's 3-0 win against Austria but was happy with his experience with La Rojita this week.

Aleña spoke to Onda Cero about his situation at Barça and was very humble when it was suggested he's the long-term heir for Andres Iniesta in midfield: "I'm just enjoying everything I'm going through. I'm fighting so that one day I can be the future of Barcelona's midfield."

The youngster also spoke about his relationship with Lionel Messi: "He's a lovely person, I have always got on well with him. He tried to give me advice, even though he seems shy on the outside.

"I remember my first training session with the first team, the first time I trained with him. It's something I will never forget. I asked him for a photograph after the session!"

Asked if he was annoyed not to have played against Austria, he added: "I am not angry about anything. I am happy to be able to enjoy [the win] with my teammates. I'm happy with how the game went and how this week has been."
