Carles Alena, cut from the Barca squad to face Girona

Ernesto Valverde left the cantera midfielder out of his team after Alena started against Leganes and Sevilla
Ernesto Valverde took 19 players to Girona, leaving out Jeison Murillo and Sergi Samper, but the Barcelona coach also had to cut another one after he got there.
This time it was Carles Alena who missed out. The midfielder will have to watch the Catalan derby from the stands after the coach did not include him on the bench despite his recent good performances.
Alena started in La Liga against Leganes with Arthur and Sergio Busquets, playing well until Valverde took him off. Then he started again against Sevilla in a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey.
