The former Madrid coach criticised the treatment of the Argentine

He also said Messi's a genius and the rest are 'just' great players

Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello made some strong comments while speaking on 'Fox Sports' in Italy when speaking about the Clasico and Sergio Ramos' foul on Leo Messi.

Capello spoke about how Messi is targetted when he visits the Santiago Bernabeu: "Every time there's a Clasico at the Bernabeu, the Madrid players try to injure Messi. [Ramos'] action is a clear red card."

And he continued: "You just have to watch the play. Look at the challenge, it's criminal. The player [Ramos] is rightly dismissed."

The one-time Madrid boss also spoke about the eternal debate regarding who's football's best: "Messi is a genius, Cristiano is a great player."

And he continued to praise Messi: "It's amazing to be able to see what he does. He carries the team on his back. He's a genius, all the rest are great players. Ronaldo's a goal scorer, really good in the area, but [in the Clasico] we've seen a genius get a positive result for his side.

"In the Clasico I saw Messi do things that I have never seen before."
