A 2013 report found the hygiene situation inside the stadium "deplorable"

In the summer of 2013, Santo Rosell's board contracted a company to analyse the state of Camp Nou. Toni Mora, who signed off that report, has spoken to RAC1 about how he found the stadium.

The inspection revealed a "really serious" hygiene situation at Camp Nou, with Mora explaining "inside the ground was in a deplorable state."

Mora said that pigeon nests were found in the roof full of excrement and that the nests must have been there for at least a few years.

He explained that the nests attracted flied and mites and added that bird feces were even found in areas where food was prepared for supporters.

The report recommended Barça take immediate action but Mora and his company never heard back from the club, who didn't return to the call to solve the hygiene problems.

It was also revealed on Thursday that Barça played 21 games at Camp Nou between 2019 and 2020 with supporters inside the stadium at risk.

At the time, the board, led by Josep Maria Bartomeu by then, ignored reports that detailed 127 problems that required "immediate action," even though 44 of them brought risks for fans, with reports saying fragments could have fallen on people.

It wasn't until the temporary board came in last November and, later, Joan Laporta in March that these serious problems were fixed.
