Busquets: All we can do is say sorry to the Barça fans

Sergio Busquets held his hands up and admitted that Barcelona were beaten by the better side on Tuesday as they were thumped by Liverpool and knocked out of the Champions League. 

Barça took a three goal lead into the semifinal second leg but braces from Wijnaldum and Origi sent the Premier League side through to the final 4-3 on aggregate. 

"There were much better than us, they went for the game from the start," Busquets said. "We struggled against their pressing, especially at the beginning of both halves.

"When they scored the goal, when they were pressing so high, it was really difficult. I think we had chances to score the goal we needed but it wasn't to be." 

Busquets said that all he can do right now is apologise to the supporters as Barça were KOd in Europe after having a three goal advantage for the second time in two years. 

"I apologise to the fans because to go through this again after what happened in Rome is really tough after such a good result in the first leg," he added. 

The winning goal came from a quick corner which Barça weren't ready for and Busquets admitted: "We all switched off for the fourth goal, they were more intelligent than us."
