Breakdown: Barca's new stadium and the income they are aiming for

The new Spotify Camp Nou, if everything goes as planned and budgeted, will be completely renovated and fully operational by the end of the 2025-26 season, which will also be the last year of Joan Laporta's reign. The stadium will become one of the most modern venues in the world, and its financing will have to be completed with the revenue generated by the facility.

In June 2026, the grace period for the 1.5 billion euros borrowed from 20 national and international investors, including Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, JLL, Pérez-Llorca, DLA Piper, Key Capital Partners, Legends, and IPG 360, will come to an end. From then until 2050, the club will have to repay both principal and interest in various instalments.

In order to secure this substantial amount of money and convince lenders and bondholders, FC Barcelona had to provide a rigorous set of guarantees. One of these is the revenue forecast for the new Camp Nou once it is operational. All of this documentation is included in the Espai Barça Fund Agreement. According to this agreement, the Fund will require a minimum annual revenue from Camp Nou activities (e.g., 85 million euros as of June 1, 2025). If FC Barcelona, through its respective departments, fails to achieve these figures, the Fund will have the authority to replace the executive in charge of the club and appoint its own consultant.

According to this information, FC Barcelona is confident that it will reach and even surpass these revenue figures, with expectations of exceeding 340 million euros by the 2025-2026 season. The club's estimation is based on a thorough market analysis, knowledge of the football industry, and a comparison with other sports entities of similar size to FC Barcelona.

To calculate these substantial revenues, the club envisions the first team playing 25 football matches per season at the new Camp Nou: 19 in La Liga, 5 in the Champions League (at least until the quarter-finals), and the Gamper match. In addition to football matches, Camp Nou will be open seven days a week, 365 days a year, offering a wide range of activities and dining options.

The predicted income for different activities:

  1. Museum: 79.778.000 euros
  2. Ticketing: 73.851.000 euros
  3. Hospitality boxes VIP: 76.540.000 euros
  4. Season tickets: 50.238.000 euros
  5. Sponsors: 47.289.00
  6. Meetings, events: 8.529.000 euros
  7. Food and drink: 8.164.000 euros
  8. Parking: 2.204.000 euros

In total, FC Barcelona believes that the new Camp Nou will have the capacity to generate 346 million euros per season. It's worth noting that the significant increase in revenue from all these sources is based, among other factors, on "the historic growth in ticket demand from tourists on matchdays." Additionally, the club emphasizes that the 'Seient Lliure' program will continue to grow and that the new VIP boxes will be a success.
