The ex-Madrid man looked back on his career in an interview with DAZN

Ronaldo Názario has spoken to DAZN about his playing career in Spain. He looked back over his exit from Barcelona and his arrival at Real Madrid years later.

With respect to his departure from Camp Nou, when he joined Inter Milan, he revealed he didn't feel valued at the club but wanted to stay anyway.

"I signed a contract renewal at the end of the season and went on holiday to Brazil," he said. "Five days later they phoned me to say they could not continue with the renewal.

"It was not in my hands, I wanted to continue at the club. The club didn't value me as they should have done, it wasn't in my hands. I would have liked to have stayed."

The Brazil star was only at Barça for one season and it was one of the best of his career. He joined from PSV for 15 million and adapted well to the city, scoring 47 goals in his 49 games.

After that, he joined Inter for 28 million. He played well in Italy but injuries prevented him from matching the numbers he had posted in Catalonia.

Roberto Carlos then played a key role in him moving to Real Madrid: "He told me everything Madrid represented and how his life was there. I wanted to see with my own eyes and I saw that it was even greater than what Roberto Carlos said.

"There's huge pressure, the best in the world are there. I loved knowing that I could help the club be even greater. I wanted to play for Madrid. That was my dream and I fought until the end to come."
