Coutinho could cost as much as 160 million euros

The signing of Philippe Coutinho is the most expensive in Barcelona's history. The 160 million euros (120m + 40m) that the club will pay Liverpool is the biggest investment they've ever made in one player. It tops the 140m (105m + 35m) they paid for Ousmane Dembele in the summer.

The third most expensive player in Barça's history is Neymar, who joined in 2013. There are still doubts about how much the Brazilian exactly cost, but the closest estimate puts him at 88m. In principle, the deal cost 57.1m, but it's ended up closer to 100m.

Luis Suarez then joined the club in 2014 and is the fourth most expensive signing. The Uruguayan striker joined from Liverpool for 81m.

Completing the top five is Andre Gomes. Barça signed the Portugal international from Valencia in exchange for 35m plus variables, which makes the potential cosr of the midfielder 70m. He showed a lot of potential at Mestalla but has not yet took off at Camp Nou following the transfer, which took place in 2016.

Sixth is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who joined from Inter Milan, with Paulinho, David Villa, Marc Overmars and Javier Saviola completing the top 10 -- and Dani Alves just missing out.
