The Dane has played less and less in recent weeks

Martin Braithwaite has cost Barcelona 54,000 euros per minute played so far. The February signing arrived as an emergency after injuries to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele but has seen his action reduced in recent weeks, taking him further away from his goal of remaining at the club for a long time. "I hope to be here for many years," he said when he was presented.

With Dembele injured and Suarez having a knee operation, Barça faced the final four months of the season without two of their main forwards. After an intense search, Braithwaite was the player that ticked most boxes and the club paid Leganes 18 million euros to Leganes for the Danish international.

He was involved as soon as he arrived but recently coach Quique Setien has stopped counting on him. The return of Suarez after the coronavirus pause pushed him down the pecking order and has hit his minutes.

Braithwaite has played 332 minutes for Barça across nine games. Working out the cost per minute, it's 54,000 euros -- or two million euros per game.

The former Leganes man left good sensations before the coronavirus stoppage. He came on against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and featured against Eibar and Real Sociedad at Camp Nou. He started and scored at Mallorca in La Liga when the league resumed in June. But since then, after starting against Sevilla, he's hardly featured.

With regards to the transfer window, it remains to be seen how Barça will react if offers arrive. Braithwaite has reiterated he wants to stay for many years and he has a long-term contract, but the club's financial situation could force them to listen to offers.
