BILD: Barcelona called Joachim Löw in March about coaching job

Löw plans to take some time off after leaving Germany at the end of Euro 2020

Joachim Löw could have become the Barcelona for next season. The Germany coach, who will leave his role with the national team after Euro 2020, received a call from Barça in March when it became known he would be a free agent this summer. That's according to Bild, who add that the conversations went nowhere because Löw said he didn't intent to coach anyone next season.

Per the same media, who don't reveal who called Löw in name of Barça, the idea was to translate their interest and see if he would be interested in taking the job if it became available. However, the contact was only with his representatives and they never actually spoke to Löw, given the idea was quickly knocked back.

Aged 61 and after 15 years with the German national team, Löw plans to take a year off after this summer's finals. After that, his next challenge remains unknown.

Remember that Ronald Koeman will continue as Barça coach next season, with his contract running until 2022. The Catalan club could not find a credible replacement and, after a period of reflection, decided to still with the Dutchman for another season.
