According to 'L'Equipe', the German giants see the Spanish midfielder as an important part of their squad overhaul

Bayern Munich look set to win the race to sign Spanish youngster Marc Roca from Espanyol. According to French newspaper 'L'Equipe', the German side will deposit the €40m buyout clause with LaLiga as they look to finalise their squad for this season.

Roca has been linked with a move to Bayern for weeks but Espanyol have refused to negotiate and demand any interested club pays his buyout clause. However, the Bundesliga giants are on the verge of selling Renato Sanches to Lille and will use that money to fund a move for Roca.

The young midfielder would be Nico Kovac's seventh new signing following the arrivals of Philippe Coutinho, Pavard, Perisic, Arp, Lucas Hernández and Cuisance. It would leave a massive hole in Espanyol's squad, who are in the midst of qualifying for the Europa League, and there's very little time to find a suitable replacement.
