Josep Maria Bartomeu, FC Barcelona president, spoke about Lionel Messi’s contract during the press conference he gave while speaking about Barcelona’s 2016.
The Blaugrana chief said: “We want Leo Messi to finish his career at FC Barcelona. Messi is the best player in the history of football so we want him to finish with us. We will make the effort.
“We will try to convince him that he is at the best club, he knows this is his home. When I speak if effort it’s sitting at a table and talking. He loves being in Barcelona, like everyone who is here. Messi has it very clearly. There ill be a negotiation, but I don’t want to talk of numbers. But if he is the best in the world then it’s logical that goes across in all aspects, including economically.
“It’s the will of the club, all Barcelona fans and everyone in football that Messi continues at FC Barcelona.”
