Bartomeu calls first board meetings to deal with crisis at Barcelona

Part of the board want general manager Pep Segura to be sacked

The debacle in the Copa del Rey dinal against Valencia could bring movement in the structure of the club at FC Barcelona. President Josep Maria Bartomeu has decided to call the first board meetings to deal with the crisis born from the losses to Liverpool and Valencia.

SPORT have learned that one of the main issues for the meeting is that a number of the board members want general manager Pep Segura to be replaced immediately. Bartomeu, though, continues to support him.

Another problem to solve is the growing number of voices at the club that want Ernesto Valverde to be removed from his post as fiirst team coach. Bartomeu and Lionel Messi have both backed him in recent days. "I think he's done an impressive job since he's been here," Messi said on Friday. "I would like him to continue."

The ball is now in Bartomeu's court. The president has a difficult week ahead of him. The bad taste left by the end of the season has ruined what, until April, had been a good campaign against the worst Real Madrid. Now Bartomeu must stand up on Tuesday. Barça need solutions.
