Barcelona's problem in registering players for the Europa League

| sport

The Catalan club can only sign up three new players for European competition

Adama Traore will become Barcelona's third signing of January after the return of Dani Alves and the arrival of Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

Therefore, Barça have now filled up their quota for new registrations for European football with three days to go in the transfer window and more signings still on the table.

Barça still want to sign a striker and a left-back before Monday, when the window closes, if possible.

According to UEFA, "clubs have to communicate the desired changes to their squads before midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 2" and the rules added that clubs are "allowed to register a maximum of three new players during the winter window."

Dani Alves, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore would be the three for now but, as SPORT have reported, Barça are working on other new signings. If they end up signing four or five players, they would have to choose three and leave the others unable to play in the Europa League.

Jutgla & Abde

Before the signings of Ferran and Adama, Ferran Jutgla and Abde Ez were set to be registered for the Europa League, along with Alves, who signed in November.

However, Jutgla and Abde will now remain off the list for European competitions in the second half of the season. They don't count as B team players because they have not spent two years at the club. They both arrived last summer, from Espanyol and Hercules respectively.
