Spending the Neymar cash: Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele dilemma

Ousmane Dembele is liked by Barcelona. The board like the glamour of Paulo Dybala, but the technical staff want something different. For months. Dembele's name has been on the table as a possible signing in attack. Now, with Neymar on route to Paris, things will step up. However, sources have told SPORT that the club are in a debate about the signing of the Borussia Dortmund youngster.  

Barça have reactivated talks with Dembele's people to see if he'd be open to a move and how much Dortmund would demand. Barça believe that with Aubameyang still at the German club, the Frenchman may be available. However, there is a debate. The most positive at the club believe his pace and trickery on the wing would help fill the gap Neymar leaves. The more cautious advise that he doesn't have the numbers in the final third and falls a long way short of the Brazilian. They would prefer to weight up the other options. 

With that context, the technical team will not rush any decisions and will see how preseason develops. In this sense, they also want to know Ernesto Valverde's opinion on the profile of player Barcelona requir in attack. Dembele is liked, but not at any price. 

Dybala, out of the running

Paulo Dybala, save a miracle, is not a likely option this month for Barça as they look to spend the money they will receive from Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain. The Juventus forward has an elevated price and doesn't fit with the demands of the technical staff, either. However, he could be an option in future seasons. But signing the Argentine this month seems to have been ruled out.
