Barcelona's new solution to try and solve the Frenkie de Jong problem

| sport

The Dutch midfielder had no interest in joining Manchester United this summer

Barcelona are looking at various options to resolve their salary issues. Regarding Frenkie De Jong, his salary rises this season and will contravene the new limits set by the club, so they are looking at various different plans.

One of them is that he could leave and be sold for up to €80 million. There was a deal with Manchester United, who would pay 85 million, but the Dutchman did not want to follow that option. Frenkie made it clear that despite the presence of his coach Eric ten Hag from Ajax at Manchester United, he would not go to Old Trafford. He did not want to play in the Europa League and believes the project is not attractive in sporting terms. So Barcelona have to look for other solutions.

The club wants to reduce his salary which was agreed in the Josep Bartomeu era, and rises steeply from this season. However, his people are not that interested in reaching a deal in this form. So the third option on the table appears.

It is a loan move to one of the clubs who are also interested in him, like Chelsea or Bayern Munich. In this way, Barcelona would save his salary - all of it or at least most of it - and resolve for the time being, one of the main issues that stopping them from registering their new signings.

This loan move would include an obligatory option to buy for €80 million next year. Frankie has a contract at Barça let’s not forget, until 2026.
